Research abstract

Cybernet Systems Corporation proposes to enhance the capabilities of the Army to test wireless equipment by expanding the test process to include simulation technology that allows a large number of radio assets to be simulated through the development of a new radio behavior model. Coupled with this behavior model will be a suite of tools to capture radio test data from the testing process, allowing it to be folded back into the integrated simulation, creating a positive feedback system that becomes more capable as more radio assets are tested. After time, a heavily populated simulation capability will be created that can do a significant amount of testing without a physical test workbench. Our goal is an extremely scalable simulation test bench that allows the Electronic Proving Grounds to represent not only the interactions among applications, protocols, and physical channels, but also allow easily modifiable configurations of large numbers of radio network nodes. The three primary objectives of the project are: • Create a highly-scalable radio behavior model that can plug into existing simulators. • Capture data from EPG test bench procedures to feed into that model. • Incorporate existing simulations that use our developed behavior model into EPG testing procedures
