Research abstract

In Phase I Metacomp Technologies, Inc. developed PDE++, a CFD-based performance prediction tool capable of multi-cycle simulation of single tube engines. Capabilities to address cross-talk in a multi-tube engine and liquid fuel injection are planned for Phase II. The final code will include all subsystems typical of PDE based propulsion systems such as an inlet variable geometry nozzle, inlet valves, plenums, fuel injection systems, ignition systems, multi-tube PDE and an exit variable geometry nozzle. The graphical user interface in PDE++ is designed for ease of use in performance analysis. It automatically generates the mesh from a geometry file and sets up all physical and numerical parameters necessary for multi-cycle simulation
