Research abstract

Through the use of nanopatterned metal electrodes on top of semiconductor quantum wells, it is possible to produce tunable quantum dot arrays that operate at room temperature, and at energies appropriate for absorption and emission in the NIR-optical range. Such devices have unique application as both tunable upconverting films and tunable metamaterials, as well as tunable emitters (e.g., LEDs) and absorbers (e.g., filters).
