Research abstract

We propose to develop and evaluate an exciting cross-cultural social perspective taking (SPT) curriculum for use by Soldiers in the classroom and on computers. We describe numerous innovations including: a thoroughly vetted design through extensive collaboration with one of the foremost researchers in the SPT field; a spiral design which proceeds from “knowledge of self” to “similar other” to “cross-cultural other”; a methodical evaluation through randomized, controlled trials; multi-media content; case-based instruction; and the use of proprietary state-of-the-art courseware delivery tools which concentrate costs on curriculum development and evaluation rather than on an expensive software development effort.
