Research abstract

Williams-Pyro is developing an AccuTag Miniature Surveillance and Tracking System (Accu-MiSTS). Accu-MiSTS employs cluster management techniques and ad-hoc networking to provide a readily scalable architecture with which to perform comprehensive surveillance. A cluster comprises one supernode and up to 65,536 nodes, all of which are within the communication range of at least one other node. The Accu-MiSTS solution incorporates a modular approach to the electronics processing and communications, allowing multiple deployment opportunities for unobtrusive surveillance. Accu-MiSTS allows a user to determine the best packaging and enclosure for a given deployment, optimizing the external package towards environmentally inconspicuous arrangement. Williams-Pyro has alleviated initial programmatic technical risk and proven Accu-MiSTS’ Phase I technical merit through the Phase I work and final demonstration. The Accu-MiSTS project will provide SOCOM with a small, robust, compact, and power-efficient platform for performing remote, persistent surveillance.
