Research abstract

In order to handle extremely large amount of airborne intelligence surveillance & reconnaissance (AISR) data and command & control information at high data rate, and large number of communication channels in support of many aircrafts and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), future military communication satellites will require extremely wide bandwidth capabilities. Millimeter-wave spectrum, specifically V- and W-bands, offers an ideal solution for such applications. The proposed program is aimed at the development of W-band high power, high efficiency power combiners and solid state power amplifier modules to enable 300W W-band transmitter development.
