Research abstract

We propose to develop and demonstrate a monolithically integrated InP transceiver chip containing a high-power superluminescent diode (SLD), PIN photodetector and optical coupler. An InP-based phase modulator chip will also be developed and characterized. The goal of this work is to advance the state-of-the-art in integrated solutions for fiber gyros to improve performance while lowering the cost of the optical subassembly.
