Research abstract

Detection and characterization of dismounts in urban environments is of paramount importance for the urban functions of our military personnel and for protecting our citizens. The all-weather capability of GMTI makes radar an attractive sensor for this purpose. The exploitation of human dismount Doppler signatures is a challenge due to the low RCS, dense clutter, and multi-path effects of urban environment. Our approach uses a physics based dismount model and multi-path estimation techniques to provide solutions to the challenges in this area.
