Research abstract

CAMRIS International will develop a global profile software technology to provide universal access to donor identity, previous deferrals, and travel history to assist data filing continuity of the blood bank collection facilities. Even though software systems to track donor identity, previous deferrals and travel history are commercially available, the knowledge management needs of the Air Force and the Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) will require software development. With proper deployment, these software systems provide continuous and universal access to information in a secure setting, ensure data integrity, reliability and proper record management -so that data are filed continually with each donor visit, each blood collection, each infectious disease test, each component manufactured from every donation and the final disposition of every blood component. CAMRIS has established a partnership with Wyndgate Technologies®, so that we already begin with a donor management information system (SafeTrace®) already approved by the FDA. In short, the ASBP global profile database of blood donors will be powered by the SafeTrace system. CAMRIS International understands the challenge for Phase I as the development of the necessary software layers that will meet the ASBP knowledge management, needs while maximizing the proven benefits of Wyndgate's donor information system (SafeTrace).
