Research abstract

The U.S. Army is looking for tools and techniques that will enable Commanders to intelligently plan and prepare the battlespace prior to operations. While many techniques, simulations, and planning and analysis tools are available to model and represent the operational environment in support of the mission planning process, there remains a need to inject high-fidelity real-time data into the analysis environments to consider the effects of real-time C4ISR systems and the corresponding RF environment. To address this, this effort will develop CARET (COA Analysis with Real-time Effects Toolbox), a collection of software tools that will make use of software agents to gather, process, and inject real-time data into embedded simulations for predictive analysis of C4ISR effects on mission plans. The Phase I effort will work to define a roadmap for incorporating this real-time C4ISR and RF data into embedded simulations for the purpose of real-time COAA by conducting a technical feasibility study based on individual proofs-of-concept for each part of CARET that can be demonstrated using our Dynamic Situation Awareness and Predictive (DSAP) test bed.
