Research abstract

Dindl Firearms Manufacturing, Inc. proposes the use of an expanding 40mm high explosive warhead to produce the desired blast characteristics at the target. A low risk design is envisioned where the explosive payload weight is similar to the existing M100 GREM. The blast characteristics will be accomplished by expanding and reshaping the explosive payload at the target. Modeling and simulation, combined with limited laboratory experiments in Phase I will be used to explore the feasibility of this approach.
