Research abstract

The objective is to demonstrate the feasibility of a robust and reliable thin-film encapsulation for OLED devices. Phase I successfully demonstrated the efficacy of thin-film layer structures that would prevent moisture and oxygen permeation. Techniques were developed for low-temperature deposition of transparent and low-stress thin films suitable for encapsulating OLED devices. Phase II will extend the progress made in Phase I by focusing on improving the encapsulation schemes and demonstrating the efficacy of the encapsulation by incorporating it directly on OLED devices and subjecting the devices to accelerated environmental tests.
