Research abstract

The goal of this Phase 2 project is to build a prototype system that will enable scanning of TRICARE paper medical records into electronic format. The system to be built will be highly usable; enabling healthcare providers with no access to training and manuals to be able to use this data searching and mining system efficiently and effectively in order to provide better care for our veterans. Building on our Phase 1 accomplishments we will further develop the system to be able to provide a scan on demand process that will categorize each form, extract field specific information, store information in a relational database, perform recognition on key selected fields, and allow extremely fast field and form based data searches.
