Research abstract
As a result of Phase I research and development, MDInformatics (MDI) designed a comprehensive CBRNE Core Curriculum (C3), a dual-pedagogy (didactic presentations + case-based learning) Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) system for C3 course content delivery, and a course content development plan to be used in Phase II in order to complete development of the C3 course. C3 was designed in accordance with the Defense Medical Readiness Training Institute (DMRTI) “CBRNE Training Proficiency Standards and Metrics.” In Phase II, MDI will build upon Phase I work in order to complete the production version ADL platform, build all C3 course content to specification, conduct investigational research of the pedagogical approaches, and submit the completed C3 course to DMRTI for Program Analysis. DMRTI approval will certify the C3 course as a high-quality CBRNE training program for use by DoD services. Additional certification by the Office of Domestic Preparedness, Department of Homeland Security will place the C3 course in high standing as a commercial product offering within private sectors. This project is targeting medical responder personnel with a Web-based instructional platform designed to promote long-term knowledge retention and richer thought processes through the incorporation of analogical event and patient case simulations.
