Research abstract

The objective of this SBIR is to develop a prototype angular valve measurement system designed to provide accurate and reliable readings in a high-vibration environment. Our Phase 1 effort concluded with a successful live demonstration of the technology upon which this SBIR 2 proposal is based. In addition to meeting or exceeding Phase 2 technical objectives defined by AEDC, we believe that our proposed measurement system has a number of features that provide significant value and cost savings to AEDC. This SBIR 2 proposal describes our plan for the development of a prototype based upon the technology demonstrated during Phase 1. The prototype developed during Phase 2 will be installed for live in-service testing on the wind tunnel facilities at AEDC. Among the cost-saving features of IAC True Non-Contact Measurement System are: • True Non-Contact Measurement Increases reliability by eliminating vulnerable mechanical coupling between valve and sensor. • Valve Health Monitoring Facilitates preventive maintenance in order to avoid costly in-service failures • Self-Calibration Reduces cost of installation and periodic recalibration.
