Research abstract

The MEI1080 HELLHOUND 40mm Low Velocity Multi-Purpose Grenade is a fixed type ammunition designed to be fired from a 40mm Grenade Launcher. The round consists of an A5 filled metal projectile body, slightly longer than the current M433, with a rotating band, a point initiating-base detonating fuze with Safe and Arm technology, and a cartridge case assembly with MEI's proprietary energy delivery system to allow a heavier weighted cartridge to obtain 247 f/s velocities. The MEI1080 has twice the A5 fill amount and a 40% increase in the shrapnel pattern than the M433 and with the point initiating-base detonating fuzing applies enourmous energy to any static door combination when initiated.
