Research abstract

The current project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of a compact, powerful, power-efficient lidar unit for wind profiling on board UAV's and other aircraft. The system leverages Oceanit's current development efforts building an eye-safe lidar for minute aerosol detection. A unique design provides a rugged system with no moving parts and little maintenance requirements. Efforts will include operational requirements development, detailed design analysis and modeling, human factors analysis, system maintenance requirements and mean-time-between-failure projections.
