Research abstract

CoVar ARC-Gen (Automated Recursive COA Generator) provides COA (Course of Action) generation and suggestion with a minimum number of black-box AI/ML tools, complete explainability, and the ability for commanders to update the recommendation engine in situ without any model re-training. By codifying and storing TTPs/SOPs (Task Technique Procedure / Standard Operating Procedure), ARC provides the ability to find all applicable doctrine for a given scenario. Then, using selected TTPs and context from an ongoing mission, new COAs can be generated by fitting TTP actions to the battlefield. If successful, this Phase I SBIR will result in software capable of reducing the MDMP (Military Decision Making Process) from hours to seconds across multiple echelons and create a unified language for TTP and COA representations. The TTP codification approach also allows for new TTPs or other doctrine to be added, without any need for retraining of large machine learning models. This software would have significant applicability in logistics domains where multi-level planning and optimization is essential.
