Research abstract

Intelligent autonomous systems can adapt to dynamic environments with improved performance over conventional systems. Whereas conventional artificial neural systems and novel LLMs require large amounts of memory and power to run, bio-inspired systems can maintain performance while reducing the size, weight, and power requirements. In this project, Areté proposes the development of a fully bio-inspired autonomous system for ground forces course-of-action (CoA) evaluation and recommendation. By combining Areté’s expertise in modeling & simulation and Army applications with the University of Tennessee TENNLab’s expertise in neuromorphic systems, we provide a tailored bio-inspired solution to meet the Army’s needs. This effort will establish the potential performance of bio-inspired systems and define system requirements for future prototyping efforts.
