Research abstract

Swarm Aero’s innovations present a new art of the possible for building aerostructures at high volume, low-cost, and through high automation to deliver affordable mass aircraft. We propose to modify, build upon, and optimize existing high Technology Readiness Level (TRL) commercial composite manufacturing technology that is used in other industries but not used widely in aerospace. This proposal would validate this proposed approach for an affordable mass aircraft. This will also generate significant data for the USAF on the process and its applicability for many other aircraft builds as well as broadly applicable cost data for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Manufacturing and Industrial Technologies Division (RXM).
