Research abstract

Planetary Shelter’s Habolith provides the ONLY capability for a fully fortified, blast-resistant bunker with minimal logistics, enabling swift deployment and enhanced force protection in contested environments. Founded in 2023, Habolith’s patented innovation leverages flexible prefabricated formworks made from high-performance technical textiles, filled with soil, earth, or pulverized concrete, allowing adaptation to diverse warfighting conditions. Proven effective in laboratory testing, Habolith withstood 6 tons per 100kg of fill matter (40 psi blast equivalent) and sustained 100 mph winds, creating concrete-like durability previously unattainable by current solutions. A Habolith can be constructed in 80% fewer man-hours than current defensive measures, with 75% strength of unreinforced concrete, and the durability to last 10 years. Planetary Shelter will develop a state-of-the-art Habolith prototype designed to support 6 personnel and withstand 45 psi of blast pressure to enhance battlefield survivability. In the event of an enemy attack based on current munitions threats. The end result will reduce impact vulnerability from 200 yards to within 50, while cutting material weight by 50%, shipping volume by 38%, and construction time by 25% for faster fortification under ACE. Habolith also offers a 10X longer lifespan with an indefinite shelf life, far surpassing the 20-year limit of current fabric expeditionary shelters. This innovation will provide the Department of the Air Force (DAF) with a multi-use, rapidly deployable, prefabricated expeditionary protective facility, significantly improving warfighter protection and mission readiness in the event of an enemy attack.
