Research abstract

The design of simultaneously linear and efficient power amplifiers has remained as one of the most challenging goals for years. The Phase I study of this program has validated the feasibility of the proposed Envelope Delta-Sigma Modulation (EDSM) technique in reducing the effects of non-linear amplifiers and increasing the power efficiency for non-constant-envelope modulation. In phase II we proposed to implement a practical microwave power amplifier system at 20GHz with both high efficiency and high linearity. The proposed work will revolutionize the current microwave power amplifier design methodology, thus contribute significantly to Milsatcom system applications.
