Research abstract

This work is to develop and demonstrate the ability to increase the x-y resolution of infrared still and video images in real time and to improve contrast, signal to noise ratio and reduce image platform jitter. The objective of this program is perform these tasks in real time on a 60 frame/second image and produce an architecture that does this with minimal power and space impact. Little or no image latency will be introduced into the video stream. The main objective is to provide increased range performance from a 320 X 240 thermal camera and to provide correction real time of image jitter due to movement of the camera during field operation. This will provide better quality imagery to the user for improved Individual Movement Technique.
