Research abstract

The Design Knowledge Company, Inc (TDKC) and Sytronics presents a unique and commercially viable solution, our Application of XTM and XFML to Individual and Organizational Modeling (AXIOM). AXIOM provides the ability to accurately and rapidly compose cognitive models for individual entities, organizations and teams. These models will benefit many AF and DoD research initiatives, like those for (a) distributed simulation, (b) M&S research, (c) operations center activities, (d) Joint Synthetic Battlespace, (2) homeland security The AXIOM solution is developed on open, standard, web-based approaches applied to cognitive modeling at multiple levels of abstraction, and to do so in a manner that renders the solution both human-understandable and machine-readable. In Phase I, we successfully implemented the knowledge representation structures used in AXIOM, using the Topic Mapping 4 Java (TM4J) open source software, and demonstrated this before the end of the Phase I research. Importantly, our research established the principle that by having subject matter experts build topics maps, we can generate XML code, which is a critical aspect of interoperability in Defense Modeling and Simulation Office (DMSO) and similar warfighter exercises. AXIOM Phase II will include a Plug-In feature/architecture that enables other model developers to leverage AXIOM capabilities.
