Research abstract
Threat simulation laboratories, such Wright Patterson's Integrated Demonstration and Applications Laboratory require realistic simulations of aircraft navigation systems to distribute the time critical platform information to various RF based geolocation position development systems (ATAR, AT3). The current IDAL INS platform simulations model the interaction between the aircraft INS / GPS to provide a generalized output of navigation data and timing. This data interacts with the SUT as first order test functional test. The ability to transition the SUT from the all digital simulation representation to the actual navigation hardware provides the next step in evaluating system of systems inter-operability. This step is a predecessor to aircraft / SUT software-in-the loop (SIL) testing, ground testing and finally flight testing. Integration of actual EGI based navigators, in place of simulations, into the real-time threat simulator domain adds increased realism to the HWIL simulation by utilizing the actual aircraft navigation system which ultimately governs the position accuracy of the system under test. Control Systems Research, Inc. proposes to develop and integrate into the IDAL hardware a generic Embedded GPS Inertial stimulator capability and laboratory based EGI hardware suite capable of providing navigation and timing data representative of the F16, F15, and C130 systems.
