Research abstract

A compact dual range hyperspectral sensor is proposed, covering the longwave and short waver infrared bands. The design, based on a patented technology, allows operation with uncooled spectrometer structure with minimal parasitic radiation loading. An all reflective f/4 or f/2.6 three mirror anastigmat telescope with a wide field of view, diffraction limited performance, is proposed for the fore-optics. The design is athermal and thus optical performance do not change over the flight altitude of a UAV platform. Under Phase-I, design requirements will be developed, key tradeoffs conducted, and a full opto-mechanical design completed. A flight instrument will be designed for a demo onboard a manned platform during early Phase-II. The flight demo package will be designed for UAV operations after minor modifications to be performed toward the end of Phase-II.
