Research abstract

Expanding on the successful Phase I effort, SARA will continue the development of the Multi-Sensory Grenade by advancing the design. This will include structural analysis, studies of potential upgrades to both the subcomponents and device operation, development of a self-righting methodology that will work not only for this device but other non-lethal components, and most importantly, three different ways of adding and deploying stingballs (or other round distraction devices). Fabrication and multiple rounds of testing will occur to ensure that each individual component and the over all device works as planned. The effort will culminate in a user evaluation at a customer chosen location. This evaluation will allow potential end users, both military and law enforcement, to provide feedback on the size, weight, and operation.
