Research abstract
The objective of this effort is to use voice recognition, laser pointer tracking and sketching, and unlimited resolution, possible using display wall technologies, to provide an interface solution for the BMC2 operations center. Proposed solution will enable users to access, manipulate, visualize and share information with BMC2 colleagues in an interactive manner and help decision makers. During Phase I, InfoValley studied the potential needs of BMC2 operations and investigated possible scenarios for experimenting with multi-user simultaneous interaction capabilities to determine if the proposed TCI technology was a practical application. The study showed that there is a tremendous interest in the TCI technology based solutions. Additionally, the study revealed that extended capabilities of TCI technology could be leveraged to develop an effective solution for use in BMC2 centers. During Phase II, InfoValley will develop and demonstrate a prototype system integrating technologies that were found feasible in Phase I for use in BMC2 operations. The functional capabilities of the prototype system will include connecting and accessing Database / Knowledge base applications, Map Annotation and interactive planning, Display and manipulation of Radar and Infrared Data, accessing applications running on remote systems on the network, and facilitating collaboration among team members.
