Research abstract

EDAptive Computing, Inc. (ECI), Lockheed Martin Missile and Fire Control Group (LM), and Dr. Perry Alexander present an innovative Phase II concept and commercially viable technology towards a solution to the Army's problem of effectively representing and modeling complex system functionality early in the design. Our FCS/FTTS Intelligent Systems Integration Toolkit (FIST) solution to these challenges includes the following: (1) a web-based, system design and analysis tool suite to enable more effective tradeoff analysis of complex vehicle designs; (2) an innovative "electronic napkin" data management capability that enables rapid and effective decomposition, modeling, and management of alternative design concepts; and (3) a unique systems requirements capture and verification capability. FIST provides a much-needed multi-domain, graphical-based, systems design and analysis capability that (when fully developed) can support a myriad of Army programs like FCS, FTTS, and Objective Force. In addition to supporting critical engineering requirements, FIST also provides tools that enhance TARDEC's ability to rapidly respond to Army Headquarters/Congressional funding inquiries related to technology enhancements. With FIST, design alternatives and requirements can be rapidly assessed is a new quantitative and formal manner. FIST will also enhance TARDEC's ability to rapidly field new concept system designs.
