Research abstract

Situation: Prolonged combat casualty care is becoming increasingly necessary with the evolving combat environment. Complication: Hemorrhagic shock requires rapid treatment within the first hour after injury (called the golden hour window). Question: How can we better equip medics and surgical teams to treat shock and buy more time for definitive care? Answer: NKA01 is a prefilled syringe that can be carried by medics or in individual first aid kits and injected into an IV line during standard care to treat shock and extend the golden hour. NKA01 is a novel therapeutic approach to hemorrhagic shock using a monoclonal antibody fragment developed by NKA Bio. This Phase 2 effort builds on the Phase 1 success where a commercially feasible manufacturing process was tested for NKA01. Successful completion of this Phase 2 will enable NKA Bio to transition this NKA01 from TRL3 to TRL5, positioning NKA01 for IND Filing with the FDA and Phase 1 Clinical trials (TRL6).
