Research abstract

In the modern battlefield, Command and Control (C2) functions have become increasingly complex due to the integration of sophisticated weapon systems and evolving threats, making decision dominance critical for the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC). The diverse data inputs, ranging from advanced sensors to legacy voice communications, necessitate a robust, adaptive communication network. The CoAspire Team, comprised of CoAspire, LLC and Modern Technology Solutions, Inc., proposes the development of the Enhanced Distributed Self-Organizing Network (EDiSON). This initiative aims to create a network that is fast, flexible, and resilient to failures by leveraging tools like AFSIM for simulation, GLASS for kill-chain modeling, HADES for AI-driven testing, RELEQ for resource management, and BALAGAN for lethality assessment. EDiSON will address the unique challenges of military operations, where commercial network topologies are inadequate, through a phased approach. This includes establishing a risk-reduction testbed to refine network concepts and algorithms prior to their integration into the official USMC wargaming testbed, ensuring the network's ability to support critical decision-making in diverse, challenging scenarios.
