Research abstract

This Phase II SBIR proposal is for a C5ISR/EW Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS) open standards aligned Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) solution that is intended to be deployed aboard smaller class UAS platforms. Perceptronics Solutions is joined by our long-term partner Pacific Defense. Our C-UAS solution will improve upon an existing 2-slot CMOSS OpenVPX chassis previously developed by Pacific Defense, reducing the overall size and weight. Based on this new chassis, we will leverage our team’s extensive compute module portfolio and combine our Single Board Computer (SBC) module with a Software Defined Radio (SDR) module that will be provided as Government Furnished Equipment (GFE). We will provide a fully integrated payload solution that will provide peripheral components for power conditioning, RF power amplification, as well as antenna choices to allow targeting commercial UAS platforms utilizing 5G cellular Frequency Range (FR) 2 & FR3 C2 links. We will complement our hardware solution with our Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) assisted Electronic Warfare (EW) software capabilities for detection, classification, and tracking of target signals and platforms, in addition to integrating with software and techniques to be provided by the Government. We will deliver a Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (SWaP-C) optimized integrated C-UAS solution prototype that we will integrate with a target UAS platform to demonstrate its capabilities in the field.
