Research abstract

Triton Systems, Inc. and partners will develop a flexible universal launch and recovery system for AUVs utilizing the existing T-AGS 67 (MLARS). System development will initially focus on PMS 325 craft, starting with Naval Oceanographic (NAVO) Survey Ship (T-AGS) vessels.Ý In Phase I, Triton will develop a proof-of-concept design to improve the launch and recovery across the fleet focusing on a universal approach to interface with a multitude of AUVs as well as deploy from numerous handling configurations. ÝThe system will combat issues with motion, temperature, pressure, visibility, and operate at various depths ranging from surface level to a depth of 200ft.Ý Feasibility will be determined through a computer simulation of the solution and provide analyses of system features and a concept of operations to assess overall feasibility and risks. The Phase I Option, if exercised, will include initial design specifications and capabilities description adequate to build a prototype solution in Phase II.
