Research abstract
CSLabs proposes the development ofÝNeuroVision ñ Neural-Enhanced Optimization & Reconstruction for XR Visualization, an innovative solution that integrates AI-enhanced 3D model processing with immersive mixed reality (MR) visualization to support ship design, installation, and modernization. This Phase I effort will establish the feasibility of real-time, interactive manipulation of LiDAR and photogrammetry-based 3D models in MR environments. The system will feature a flexible 3D model ingestion framework, leveraging AI-driven techniques for enhanced data preprocessing, segmentation, and optimization. Additional capabilities includeÝautomated point cloud segmentation, noise filtering, and classification, enabling precise feature extraction and the identification of structural components. By comparing point clouds against decimatedÝCAD models or golden-reference point cloud datasets, the system will facilitate accurateÝalignment, deviation analysis, and anomaly detection to improve inspection and modernization workflows. Efficient rendering and visualization will be achieved throughÝGPU-accelerated processing, adaptive level-of-detail management, and optimized MR rendering pipelines. To facilitate collaboration, CSLabs will develop aÝmulti-user, networked MR workspace for simultaneous interaction, annotation, and editing of 3D point clouds. AÝreal-time synchronization architecture, combined withÝspatially anchored annotations and cloud-based version control, will ensure seamless data sharing and persistence. Additionally, the system will incorporateÝautomated clash detection and physics-aware interference analysis, allowing users to detect and resolve potential conflicts in shipboard installations before implementation. The Phase I feasibility study will lay the foundation forÝfull-scale implementation in subsequent phases, ensuring seamless integration with shipboard workflows and advancing the Navyís capabilities inÝdigital twin modeling, ship maintenance, and modernization planning.
