Research abstract

The proposed gated imager ROIC offers a simple path to a robust, simple and very dense imaging sensor. It is based on solid state InGaAs detectors and state-of-the-art device fabrication technology. The enhanced unit cell electronics, combined with thefuture growth to the advanced on-focal plane signal processing make use of ISC's stacked focal plane architecture. The result is an innovative approach to gated imaging that takes advantage of emerging trends in detectors, electronics and packaging. ISCwill fabricate a test 640 x 480 ROIC on the Phase II program using 0.25 micron silicon technology which will be integrated with PIN detectors to demonstrate end to end performance. The proposed innovation will find use in active imaging systems for manportable and on miniature platforms where space and weight savings are important. The small size will also allow future growth to commercial air and vehicle use in obscurant penetration.
