Research abstract

The TurboFCL project is designed to streamline and modernize the Facility Clearance (FCL) process using AI-driven automation. Small businesses and nontraditional defense contractors often face significant hurdles navigating the complex FCL requirements, which can lead to errors, delays, and lost opportunities to work on classified government projects. TurboFCL addresses these challenges by integrating artificial intelligence, automation, and secure cloud infrastructure to create an intuitive, guided clearance application process.Key features include AI-powered risk detection, which identifies compliance issues early in the FCL submission process, reducing errors and rejections. A large language model (LLM)-based chatbot provides real-time guidance and answers to applicants’ questions, ensuring they correctly complete their applications. Additionally, AI-driven document autofill extracts and prepopulates data from business records, minimizing manual entry and improving accuracy. The system is designed for deployment in secure cloud environments, ensuring compliance with Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) standards.By leveraging automation, TurboFCL enhances the efficiency of security clearance processing, reduces administrative burden on government personnel, and expands access for small businesses seeking to contribute to national defense. The technology has the potential to scale across the Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal agencies, transforming FCL management into a more accessible and efficient process while maintaining the highest standards of security and compliance.
