Research abstract

TPL proposes splitting the NRF-TAC development into two concurrent tech efforts (FSO transceiver(s) and rugged housing(s)) during the NRF-TAC Phase II. Their development will be simultaneous, completely specified by TPOC/customer(s), and integrated at the end of the effort. The final result will support the deployment of sensors and cameras in contested environments for extended periods of time when traditional RF systems (Bluetooth, Zigby, WiFi, etc.) are not an option. Two Free-Space-Optical transceiver cores will be designed from the ground up with maximum/minimum viable data rates for extreme power efficiency. These cores will become standalone products ready to be integrated by customer(s) into their proprietary equipment. TPL will simultaneously develop rugged housings which contain 800-hour power solutions per TPOC/Customer(s) specifications and operational requirements (LPI/LPD maximized).  The proposed FSO transceiver cores can be used in a variety of different operational views. They are unaffected by existing emissions of any kind and can operate in congested environments.  Phase II Base 1a, Core Development: Gather requirements, design, manufacture, and validate two low-power FSO transceiver core(s) Megabit Core (M-Core) and Kilobit Core (K-Core)Month 1 – Month 14At Month 14, TPL will provide 2 sets of each transceiver for TPOC/customer testingPhase II Base 1b, Rugged Housing Development:Gather requirements, design, and validate rugged housing with power solution for core(s) developed in Base 1a. (Month 1 – Month 6)Integrate low power transceiver core(s) into rugged housings defined by TPOC/Customer(s). (Month 18 – Month 22)Phase II Base, Step 2: Deliver 4 ready-to-use NRF-TAC kits with integrated power Support to TPOC/Customer(s) in testing, demos, and training
