Research abstract

65752 The electrical, physical, and chemical characteristics of the electrode materials in lanthanum-gallate-based intermediate temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells must be optimized for long-term endurance. This project will synthesize and characterize several promising electrode compositions validated via single fuel cell tests. In Phase I, several baseline electrode compositions will be modified with dopants in order to enhance the operating characteristics and endurance of intermediate temperature fuel cells. Phase II will demonstrate the improved electrodes in short stacks leading to kilowatt-class stack demonstration of performance and endurance. Commercial Applications And Other Benefits as described by awardee: The technology should lead to the commercial introduction of intermediate temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cell stacks for efficient power generation.
