Research abstract

AiRANACULUS, a Boston-based startup, that develops mission critical wireless communications solutions for DoD and NASA, in association with Radisys (a premier 5G O-RAN vendor) and Lockheed Martin (Transition Partner) proposes xApp & rApp based Comprehensive OpenRAN Monitoring to Ensure Trust (COMET) to detect unauthorized data access and jamming in OpenRAN networks. This proposal combines AiRANACULUS’ proven interference detection solutions (developed for NASA) with a Zero Trust Data Security (commercial product from XQ Message) to provide a full stack, cross layer solution to monitor the integrity and trust of mission critical OpenRAN (O-RAN) environments. COMET leverages xApps and rApps to monitor data and spectrum components of mission critical O-RAN 5G deployments and enhances visibility into their integrity and trustworthiness. This will be accomplished by leveraging the existing APIs and interfaces within The AiRANACULUS Cognitive Agent Platform, XQ Message Zero Trust Data solution and O-RAN compliant interfaces and service models. To bring realism into transitioning COMET technologies that can scale, AiRANACULUS has partnered with Radisys, which is a premier provider of 5G Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) and Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) protocol stack and has a commercial cell deployment testbed operational in the AiRANACULUS 5G/6G wireless lab.
