Research abstract

"Systran Federal Corporation (SFC) and Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) propose to develop, demonstrate, and commercialize the SNAPPY version 3.0 Real-time Simulation Network and Human Measurement Device for Distributed Mission Training (DMT)To efficiently train personal and to optimize human interaction with simulation across DMT networks, it is essential to know human performance and network latencies in real time. Such measurements enable crucial distinctions between simulationinfrastructure delays from human factor deficiencies of the training system. The SNAPPY 3.0 network/human performance measurement device shall measure the latencies, provide the data in near real time, and record the data for detailed analysis later. Ourproposal is based on previous successful programs that form the foundation for this low-risk high-payoff proposal:¿ SNAPpy low-latency network interface and real-time data collection system,¿ AgentsTools intelligent software agents toolkit to support distributed simulations" programs to formulate a refined concept for a real-time performance monitoring and analysis. The SFC/SAIC team intends to improve the SNAPpy 2001 latency measurement system previously developed by the team. This proposed program will improve the functionality and extend the purview of the latency measurement system to the High Level Architecture(HLA) simulation applications. Simulation is becoming more complex
