Research abstract

SARA, Inc. has been an innovator in the development of Less Than Lethal Technologies based on High Power Acoustics for the US Army. An alternative mode of operation of these SARA, Inc. devices exists, where the emission of an acoustical Pulsed Periodic STimulus (PPS) effectively suppresses determined human operations. This approach offers the prospect of a true non-lethal technology that can be used in emerging military applications, such as Operations Other Than WAR (OOTW), Military Operations in Built-up AReas (MOBA) and Military Operations in Uninhabited Terrain (MOUT). This technology will allow the suppression of illegal group actions without causing injury to the physiological systems of the targeted group, individuals, or the surrounding environment, making it attractive for civilian law enforcement. Additionally, the PPS technology will result in a lightweight, ruggedized non-lethal weapon.
