Research abstract

The DOD is facing increased global disorder, creating a security environment more complex and volatile than any experienced. Adversaries Anti-access Area Denial (A2/AD) capabilities render our forces increasingly vulnerable and make it difficult for ground forces to penetrate and operate in static, fixed locations with Line-of-Sight (LOS) to opposing positions. To address these challenges, we have developed a concept we call SITETM - Sensor Integration for Targeting Execution. SITETM is based on the integration of multiple commercially available, high TRL products as well as new cutting-edge sensor technologies. SITETM implements artificial intelligence to better enable the war fighter with advanced capability in the future operating environment (i.e. SOCOM - AI for ISR, AFSOC - Artificial Intelligence for Small Unit Maneuvers (AISUM), Navy - AI for Maritime Maneuvers (AIMM), etc.). Our solution is focused on Low Size, Weight and Power and cost (SWaP-C) which enables us to support a large range of platforms and meet growing demand in commercial markets that are currently very underserved (including small UAS (sUAS), personnel (dismounted), precision weapons, etc.). Additionally, our solution for Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) in GPS denial, NavXTM, focuses on sensor fusion to provide accurate/reliable PNT in total GPS denial … what application would not benefit from a low SWaP-C solution to PNT in GPS denial and application of advanced AI/ML for autonomous object ID, localization, and tracking? SITETM provides: Novel, passive target ID and tracking that use COTS sensors Shape-based 3D-AI visual sensor for ISR&T including extraction of targets from cluttered backgrounds.Highly scalable, low SWaP-C, near IR visible and LWIR shape and surface machine vision, learning, and identification algorithms are versatile in identifying, tracking, and ranging objects, people, and defectsMulti-sensor alternative PNT for accurate platform and target location in total GPS denialMapping products and visualization in real-timeIntegration with flight controls for autonomous find/fix/finishOur proposed technology will allow reprioritization of targets, preserve concealment of the munition in contested environments, and allow for information fusion between multiple sensors to enable geolocation for fire control and battle management systems in multiple engagement scenarios from drone swarms, vehicles, and maritime vessels in a kill-chain. The technology is designed to allow dynamic retargeting in multiple denied operational environments from a vehicle mounted or Forward Operating Base (FOB) deployed system.
