Research abstract

This innovation is a highly sensitive chemical detector designed for real-time detection of chemical warfare agents, explosives, hazardous materials, and air quality threats in Air Force operations. Capable of operating at atmospheric pressure, the detector offers a 1,000,000 gain while using less than 1V, transforming where tools like mass spectrometers and ion mobility spectrometers may be deployed. Addressing the limitations of current detection systems, this portable and low-power solution enhances the Air Force's CBRN defense, base security, and aircraft air quality monitoring capabilities. With potential applications in both defense and commercial markets, the technology provides dual-use benefits in industrial safety and environmental monitoring, making it an essential tool for field-deployable chemical detection.
