Research abstract

QDIR proposes the development of a low-SWaP-C Mid-Wave Infrared (MWIR) sensor system designed to operate at room temperature, eliminating the need for cryogenic cooling in Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA). By utilizing proprietary colloidal quantum dot (CQD) technology, QDIR's MWIR sensors offer high performance with reduced size, weight, power consumption, and cost. This innovation addresses the Air Force's need for enhanced infrared sensing capabilities without compromising the aircraftĺs payload capacity or efficiency.ááThe MWIR sensor system is engineered for high sensitivity, fast imaging, and real-time object tracking, crucial for onboard missile detection and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. The room temperature operation of QDIRĺs sensors significantly reduces operational costs and increases mission readiness for CCA platforms. In addition, the scalable nature of this technology allows for easy integration into various platforms, enhancing situational awareness and survivability in contested environments.ááCommercial applications include sectors such as defense, aerospace, and autonomous systems, where infrared imaging and sensor technology are critical. The QDIR solution provides a cost-effective, scalable alternative to traditional cryogenically cooled systems, opening up new opportunities for infrared sensing technologies in both military and commercial markets.á
