Research abstract

The QSAFE (Quantum-Secure Architectures Fit for Embedded Devices) project is dedicated to advancing the secure hardware implementation of post-quantum cryptographic (PQC) algorithms, specifically those recommended by NIST and approved by the NSA. This initiative aims to develop highly adaptable hardware and software solutions that ensure robust cryptographic security in the quantum computing era. The primary tasks include the design and optimization of flexible HW/SW implementations of PQC algorithms that can be reconfigured to meet evolving cryptographic standards and address emerging threats. Additionally, QSAFE emphasizes the protection of these implementations against side-channel and fault attacks through advanced countermeasures and mitigation strategies. A significant aspect of the project is the investigation of AI/ML-assisted methods to enhance the detection and defense mechanisms against side-channel attacks, leveraging machine learning techniques to identify and respond to potential vulnerabilities more effectively. By integrating these comprehensive security measures, QSAFE aims to provide a resilient cryptographic infrastructure capable of maintaining data integrity and confidentiality in the face of future quantum computing capabilities.
