Research abstract

Irvine Sensors Corporation (ISC) proposes to design and fabricate a dual mode ROIC that simultaneously performs the function of an active time of flight (TOF) LADAR as well as a passive NIR imager thereby eliminating the need for having multiple sensors, alignment issues, and external data fusion. A large staring LADAR ROIC will be demonstrated using this concept. The approach leverages two key technologies developed at ISC - TOF 3D-Imaging ROIC and 3D ROIC stacking. Our approach simplifies the systemlevel sensor design, reduces overall package size, and renders it more robust for insertion into missile interceptor platforms. The proposed innovation will find use in unmanned robotic ground, air, and space vehicles for ATR, threat detection, andterminal guidance applications. It can also be used for commercial 3D surveying and mapping.
