Research abstract

The Mission Planner (MP) is a tool within the Aegis Weapon System (AWS) provided to the sailor to assist in planning Anti-Air Warfare (AAW), Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), and Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) missions. Use of the MP has become an increasingly complex task for sailors, and while good instructional materials exist to introduce them to the system, a complimentary tool is critically needed to measure, improve, and maintain sailor proficiency. In-Depth Engineering proposes to design and develop the Mission Planner Adaptive Trainer (MPAT). MPAT is an adaptive training solution that leverages and builds upon the Phase I TEAM-MATE design concept to provide a series of short YouTube-like instructional videos, adaptive navigation through a series of realistic scenario-based exercises, immediate informative feedback videos for incorrectly completed exercises, and target remedial training for students that are struggling with specific concepts.
