Research abstract

The proposed innovation is an anti-reflective coating (ARC) for space-qualified cover glass that will result in modules that produce 4% more power than modules equipped with uncoated glass and 3% more power than modules equipped with state-of-the-art MgF2 anti-reflective coatings while meeting all industry standard durability requirements and costing less than $5/m2. These attributes will be achieved by producing a uniquely structured coating via Aerosol Impact Driven Assembly (AIDA), a dry spray process that can produce films with a tunable refractive index and surface roughness on large area, complex-shaped, substrates.
