Research abstract

The overall goal of the proposed project  is to develop a portable optical light source and power meter (optical loss test set) capable of simultaneously measuring the optical power in optical fiber at multiple discrete wavelengths covering the SWDM and CWDM wavelength bands.  During this proposed product development program, the Caza Innovations led team will design, build, and demonstrate a single handheld instrument that can verify the link loss for 100 Gbps wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) in the 850 to 1050 nm shortwave wavelength division multiplexing (SWDM4) multimode fiber band and in the 1260 nm to 1400 nm coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM4) single mode fiber band.  This instrument design will integrate commercial, off the shelf, optical transceivers designed to operate at at 100GE-SWDM4 MSA protocol in multimode fiber and 100GE-CWDM4 MSA protocol in single mode fiber.
