Research abstract

Zeus Research and Technology, Inc. will design a modular device, open architecture that integrates multiple sources of position, velocity, attitude, and time to provide precision navigation in GPS degraded and denied environments. The Platform for Open Systems Enabling Integrated Data Orchestration and Navigation (POSEIDON) will utilize Zeus' expertise in designing, developing, and testing navigation systems for both ground and air applications. Zeus specializes in developing navigation systems and sensor fusion filters for military applications. These systems use multiple sources of position, velocity, attitude, and time to ensure precise navigation, even in GPS-degraded or denied environments. POSEIDON will utilize Zeus' expertise in designing, developing, and testing navigation systems for both ground and air applications. Zeus will apply the Navy HOST (Hardware Open Systems Technologies) standards framework to past successful designs to develop a fully configurable APNT solution.  Located in Huntsville, AL, Zeus has extensive experience in providing navigation technology insertion expertise for fielded Army missiles, unmanned aerial system (UAS) platforms and rotary wing aircraft. Zeus has led APNT system integrations several Army Research and Development programs and fielded platforms such as the Grey Eagle UAS, Shadow UAS and Black Hawk Helicopter. These research efforts have allowed Zeus to develop and demonstrate (in flight) open architecture APNT solutions that leverage complementary navigation technology such as vision-based navigation, range detecting data links, altimeters (barometric, radar, LIDAR), magnetometers, and SOO (LEO satellites, known RF emitters). Zeus implements an open architecture with tightly coupled navigation filters housed on commercial processors combined with custom electronics to optimize navigation solutions for various platforms.
